Sanitary napkin manufacturers have witnessed a significant rise in the percentage of consumers using different brands of napkins all across the country. In a developing country like ours, the divide between the rich and the poor over the years has been widening with rural areas being affected the most. Health and hygiene in remote and rural areas have not gained adequate importance and has worsened the divide. In a recent survey, it was found that 42% of the women in the country use napkins and about 16% use their local alternatives. While affordability of napkins in the urban areas has caught up largely, the rural areas are facing the brunt.
